Le Presbytère, Lot Valley > travel & directions
By car: Take the motorway from the coast (Calais/Boulogne) to the outer ring road north of Paris. Travel around Paris on the outer ring and pick up the motorway to the south of Versailles. The route passes Chateauroux, Limoges, Brive and Cahors. Turn off the motorway for the final 45-55 minutes. With two drivers and few breaks, it is possible within one day, taking about 12 hours including ferry crossings from London.
By air: Fly from the UK to either Toulouse, Limoge, Bergerac or Rodez then hire a car (or travel onwards by train)
• Toulouse, Limoges and Bergerac are just under 2 hours (100 miles) away from Balaguier d’Olt by road
• Rodez has a direct flight, operated by Ryanair, from Stanstead. This is around 1 hour away from Balaguier d’Olt
By rail: To keep the travel arrangements simple buy a through ticket in London. The journey by rail takes the best part of a day but it is possible to travel overnight, using the sleeper from Paris, arriving in Balaguier d’Olt next morning.
• Take the Eurostar service from London to Paris (Gard du Nord)
• Travel by metro or taxi, to Gare d’Austerlitz
• Take the direct train http://www.raileurope.co.uk to Cahors
• Hire a car at Cahors station, driving to Balaguier d’Olt takes 45 – 55 minutes. (alternatively there is a coach service which runs directly from the station)
